Opened in 1545 as a medicinal plant garden of the Faculty of Medicine, it is the oldest university botanical garden in Europe. It houses several rare plant specimens, an old library and the university's botanical collections. Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the garden also houses a vast pavilion at the cutting edge of technology, nicknamed the "Garden of Wonders", where five greenhouses allow the recreation of all the plant atmospheres in the world. "L'Orto Botanico" est le jardin botanique le plus ancien d'Europe et se trouve en plein dans le centre historique de Padoue. Il mérite véritablement le coup d’œil et a été pour moi une agréable surprise pour la ville de Padoue. On y visite ainsi la partie ancienne du jardin botanique ainsi que des serres comprenant de nombreuses espèces exotique. Les indications et les informations sur le site sont très bien expliqué (en italien et en anglais). Le prix est raisonnable.
