VALLEY OF THE PINTURAS

A loop to be done by car or on foot. The complete loop is 20 km by car, and allows you to observe as many prehistoric petroglyphs as possible. The 9 km loop on foot is more pleasant. You will see red and black rock paintings and prehistoric sites. In much more recent history, these places have served as shelters for the native peoples who lived in the area and went on hunting expeditions. The famous caciques Cafulcurá and Namuncurá must have hidden around here during the murderous conquest of the desert.
