Porto : Schedules, time difference and opening hours

Porto : Time difference

1 hour time difference with France: when it's noon in Paris, it's 11 a.m. in Porto all year round. In Portugal, summer time changes on the last Sunday in March, and winter time on the last Sunday in October.

Porto : Opening hours

Porto : To see / To do

Opening times are fairly similar to those in France (between 9am and 7pm). Please note that many historic sites have summer and winter opening hours. Be sure to check their websites. Here, there are no daytime siesta breaks like in Spain. If you're on a guided tour, take the morning session (especially in summer, because of the heat). The museum is generally closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, and on December 25, January1 and Easter.

Porto : Enjoying yourself

Traditional restaurants tend to be open for lunch and dinner, with a break in between. Here, we don't eat too late, and kitchens generally close around 2pm at lunchtime and 10pm in the evening. Recently opened restaurants are often open continuously from 12pm to 10pm or even 11pm. Monday is the closing day for most. Fortunately, there are still a few establishments open on this day. In August, most Portuguese people go on vacation, and you'll find many establishments closed. This can be a little frustrating.

Porto : Take a break

On the whole, opening hours are quite similar to those in France. Daytime cafés and bars operate continuously from 8am to 8pm, or even 9pm to 10pm. Opening and closing times may vary according to the time of year, for example at Christmas.

Porto : (To) please yourself

Most stores are open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 7pm. However, some stores may close on Mondays and weekends. Shopping centers are open from 10 a.m. to late evening (10 p.m. to midnight) every day, and most even on Sundays.

Porto : Get out

Evening bars close at 2am on average and fill up throughout the evening. Some places close later and clubs, of course, are open until around 4-6am. For all-night action, head to Plano B or Maus hábitos.
