JOHN BROWN HOUSE

"One of the most beautiful houses on the continent," President John Quincy Adams is quoted as saying on a visit to the 18th century residence. The house belonged to the notable John Brown, merchant and sailor who made his fortune trading with China. The furniture in the house is just as interesting as the building itself. It can be discovered during a one-hour guided tour (consult the site for schedules, which vary by day) or explore it alone, using an audio-guide or the guide given to you at the entrance.
