North Woodstock is a popular stopping-off point for visitors to the White Mountains. In fact, every autumn, the locals see strange visitors arrive in their mountains, nicknamed "Leaf Peepers". By this expression, they mean the tourists who, with their noses in the air, spend their days watching the leaves turn red and then fall. In fact, before you set off on your excursion, don't forget to pick up the leaf peepers' guides, available from Visitor Centers, which explain the different leaves you'll find in the forest. North Woodstock, though very busy, has retained a welcoming village spirit.
