Romanesque building with a clock that houses a museum that presents the maritime history of the city.
Take a 15-minute tour of Marblehead Town Hall, a Romanesque building dating from 1876. Its beautiful clock, added the following year, must be set every week. Inside the building, there is a small museum presenting the maritime history of the town, the Maritime Museum, and a second, the Sign Museum, where the shopfronts of the town's old shops are on display. Take the time to admire the painting Spirit of '76, painted in 1875 by Archibald Williard and reproduced many times. Admission is free.
