Ralph Britten's water tower, visible from afar to attract travelers to Groom.
This water tower visible from far away is striking because of its leaning position. Ground movement or a tornado are not responsible. In 1980, Ralph Britten, owner of a truck stop on the site (Ralph Britten's Truck Stop & Restaurant), bought this old water tower from the town of Lefors, about 30 miles away, and decided, to attract travelers, to tilt it at 80° with bulldozers. It now stands on two of its three feet. The success was immediate... but the company has now disappeared.
