Park left open to the public that had a beautiful bathing area in Catoosa.
The Blue Whale was built in the 1970s by Hugh Davis for his wife. The Davis' garden was soon overrun by the neighborhood and gradually turned into an amusement park. In its heyday, the facility was adjacent to a beautiful swimming area. Kids would go into the mouth of the large mammal and come out on a slide. The park, converted into a zoo for reptiles, closed in 1998 and the whale was abandoned. After a restoration by volunteers in 2011, the whale regained its color, but only for a while.
