In addition to green spaces, several water features and picnic areas, it is home to the Saint Louis Art Museum (1879), the Missouri History Museum (1866), the James S. McDonnell Planetarium (connected to the St. Louis Science Center), the Saint Louis Zoo, the open-air Muny Theater (1919), and sports fields.
