Archaeological site with more than 200 rock paintings dating back 7,000 years along paths and canyons
Human presence has been proven for thousands of years in this region of Minas. Carbon 14 dating shows that the first traces date back to about 8000 years ago. In Lapa da Sucupira, there is a cave with numerous cave paintings. Very close by, waterfalls, such as the cachoeira do descanso, form a bathing pool. From the village of Lapinha da Serra. you can access one of the most important archaeological sites in the region, with more than 200 rock paintings dating back 7,000 years, along the paths and canyons.
