Bored in 1987 to link four buildings of the Banque et Caisse d'Épargne de l'Etat (BCEE), this tunnel was quickly transformed into an art gallery. Today, the BCEE owns some 120 works by 90 artists reflecting the contemporary artistic creation of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. A part of the tunnel is dedicated to the photographer Edward Steichen (1879-1973), who is known worldwide for his UNESCO World Heritage exhibition "The Family of Man" (in Clervaux).
