The birthplace of Robert Schuman, the "Father of Europe", is located in the hills above Clausen. Since 1990, it has been home to the Robert Schuman Centre for European Studies and Research (CERE). Its main objectives are to conduct scientific research into the history of the European integration process, and to help explain the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg's historical position in the construction of a united Europe.
