Through his works, artist Bernard Clarisse offers an interpretation of working with earth, inspired by Greek authors and art history. The central subject of his artistic reflection, earth is presented in all its ambiguity, as an image of life and death, nourishing earth and final resting place for bodies.
He also offers a rereading of 19th-century works, with 2D and 3D perforated paintings that he calls "operative fields".
Antique tools, paintings and installations by the artist interact with works from the departmental collection.
