The most chic of the Argentinean seaside resorts spreads its dunes planted with pine trees and pampas grass over several kilometres of beach. It has several districts: Pinamar, Ostend, Mar de Ostend, Valeria del Mar and Cariló, the most exclusive corner of the resort with its luxurious villas. Few tarmac roads, but dirt tracks criss-crossing between pretty second homes and their flowery gardens. A more serene atmosphere than in Mar del Plata, even if the flow of tourists is there every summer and imposing buildings line the seafront promenade. A very popular carnival takes place here at the beginning of March every year.
