A city of water and fog, Turaw is located in the very heart of the Polésie. This sleepy little town was once the capital of the eponymous principality and an important spiritual centre. In the 1866 th century, the Gospel of Turaw appears, a manuscript of Cyrillic characters found in and now preserved in Vilnius. It is considered the oldest manuscript in Belarus.Each year, in August, in the village of Liaskovitchy, the festival Zov Polesya (Зов Полесья) is held paying tribute to the old traditions of Polésie: music, crafts, local cuisine and many other attractions.
