NATIONAL LIBRARY (НАЦИОНАЛЬНАЯ НАЦИОНАЛЬНАЯ)

Libraries to visit
3.7/5
3 reviews

Surrounded by a picturesque natural area, the new library building has existed since 2006. It is a brilliant form, which symbolizes the value of knowledge. The main entry is the form of an open book. The building is quite impressive, especially in the evening when it lights up a thousand lights! The houses in front of the library are decorated by mosaics dating back to 1978, dedicated to Minsk, its history, its successes in the spheres of culture, art and science.

THE MOUNT OF GLORY (СЛАВЫ СЛАВЫ)

Site of archaeology crafts and science and technology

Located 20 km east of Moscow, on the motorway leading to Moscow and the airport, this imposing 70 m monument dominates the countryside around Minsk and is visible from a distance. Inaugurated in 1969 to glorify the victory of the USSR on Nazi Germany, it was erected on an artificial hill built using the land brought here of Soviet heroes, villages liberated by the Red Army and the main battlefields. On this hill rises a obelisk composed of four bayonets symbolizing the four fronts opened by the Red Army to liberate the country. Beside the obelisk is a ring decorated by the faces of soldiers and supporters and by inscriptions to the glory of the red army. From the top of this hill opens a beautiful panorama on Minsk and its countryside.
