Ambila knew its hour of glory at the time of the railroad. Crocodile hunters used to come here to comment on their exploits. Many second homes were built there. The site is admirable: a fringe of land between the foaming swell of the ocean and the peaceful waters of the canal. Unfortunately, the multiple hurricanes and the loss of interest in the railroad and the canal have taken their toll on its popularity. However, it is possible to reach Moramanga (via Andasibe) by train, once a week, and to organize beautiful excursions. Ambila is accessible from the RN 2 by a 13 km track, often impassable.
