ANDOHARIANA TAPIA FOREST

The tapia forests are the only primary forests in the highlands of Madagascar. Tapias (Uapaca bojery) abound there, of course, as well as many orchids, aloes or medicinal plants of all kinds. One can discover there the experiments on the repopulation of wild silkworms Borocera madagascariensis. Tapia leaves are the main source of food for these silkworms, two species being endemic to the country.
