TEKKÉ HALVETI

This Sufi place of worship belongs to the Halveti brotherhood (Teqja e Halvetive, Halveti tekija). It is the most beautiful of the eight tekkés in Prizren. Founded in the 17th century, the present complex dates from 1835. Located next to the 16th century Saraçhane Mosque, it includes the mausoleum in which previous sheikhs are buried, the residence of the present sheikh, a courtyard with a marble fountain topped with a turban, and the ritual prayer hall(samahane), which is circular and decorated with earthenware pieces featuring floral and arabesque motifs.
