MUSEO PREISTORICO E CAVE DEI BALZI ROSSI
Museum founded by Sir Thomas Hanbury to exhibit the pieces discovered in the Abbo cave.
A few kilometers from the border, imposing rocks fall steeply into the sea. At the end of the 19th century, caves were discovered there. Their name comes from the rock ferruginous of slightly red color. In 1889, a museum was founded by Sir Thomas Hanbury to exhibit the pieces found in the Abbo cave, a deposit of prehistoric human bones, the oldest found in Liguria. Weather permitting, it is possible to visit other caves in the area.
