About 100 km from Gaborone, one reaches Kanye, one of the main villages of the Bangwaketse, who have settled there since the mid-19th century. The Bangwaketse are one of the three major Tswana tribes, along with the Bakwena of Molepolole and the Bangwato of Serowe. The rugged setting of this sprawling village is beautiful, and it is pleasant to wander the streets of its many neighborhoods, wandering around the kgotla and discovering its historic buildings and old churches. A tour, if possible with a guide, will allow you to get acquainted with this great people of Botswana and to soak up the atmosphere of the town.
