A Unique Experience at Elephant Sands Lodge - Our journey to Elephant Sands Lodge was an unforgettable adventure, navigating a sandy road leading to a beautiful pool where elephants roam freely. A few years ago, we stayed in one of the luxury tents surrounding the pool. Unfortunately, in August 2023, there was no availability, but we enjoyed a tent on the premises with the luxury of the restaurant and excellent restroom facilities. This served as a well-deserved rest stop after a three-week journey through South Africa, Botswana, and Zambia. The unique blend of nature, comfort, and hospitality truly made our stay at Elephant Sands Lodge exceptional.

We had the pleasure of staying at Elephant Sands in our tent/camper, so can't comment on the rooms, however the best highlight of our entire trip to Africa was the dinner! The owners three dogs which were beautiful and roamed around the restaurant. The highlight however was their pet mongoose! It had apparently been abandoned by its mother when very young and the owners had reared it from a baby. It acted just like one of the dogs and we even got to scratch its belly. What a wonderful experience! Of course seeing the elephants up close was extraordinary too as they are my favorite animal. Superb!

Enjoyable experience at the Elephant Sands. Staff are all very friendly and we saw a few elephants while there since it was rainy season but still great. The place is a little run down and the tents gets very hot in daytime, so try to arrive after 4pm. Note that there are no electricity plugs in the tents and water is turned off from 10pm to 5 am, beds were very comfortable though. Wifi is only available at the restaurant but if you stay at tent no 1 then it's close enough to get wifi in the room. Overall a pleasant experience.

Camping cost a bit more than expected, but quite unique experience with elephants passing through the camp

Viele Reisegruppen.

It was one of my most amazing experiences being so close to the elephants in the wild. Staying in the tents and hearing the animals roaming around at night was magical. Africa, you beauty ????

My partner and I sat outside late around 10pm while having a few drinks and listening to some nice soft jazz music. We got distracted by the banded mongoose that had entered our room that we didn't see a huge elephant come our way. By the time we noticed, he was about 2metres away from us. My partner is braver than I am, so he held my hand to keep me calm. Big guy stood by our balcony (he was practically half a metre from us now). He seemed to have been drawn by the soft jazz, he stood for about 2 minutes then he went on his way. I will forever cherish that moment!

No self drive allowed, also no other activities possible some days and others only if you are at least 4 people. So try to avoid the place if you want to see more than 10 elephant in a circle.

As always, this place is magical!
We camped for two nights and enjoyed it thoroughly, especially with the new camping shelters
Great staff, and the romantic dinners are five star
A must to stop-over here when visiting Botswana. Nice to view the elephants up close and from one's tent at night as they wander past under the starry sky

We camped, no drinking water, nice ablutions, lots of elephants all night and day, very smelly from the elephants.
