Travel Guide Mahendranagar

240 km from Nepalganj (5 hours by bus), south of the Mahendra highway, Mahendranagar is the border town of the far west of Nepal. It has changed its name to Bhimdatta, but a large part of the population still keeps its traditional name. The atmosphere here is perhaps a little more serene than in towns of the same size, but this does not really make you want to stay there for long. In this respect, the Opera Hotel seems to be the most welcoming. Staying at Mahendranagar may be a solution to visit the Sukla Phanta National Park, if you do not wish to stay within the park itself
