More commonly known as "Rocky", this town of barely 7,000 inhabitants was a beaver fur trading post. But, influenced by European fashion, the market abandoned beaver fur in favour of buffalo fur. That's why Rocky had to close his outlets. Rocky Mountain House is a historic site that blends outdoor activities with the history of the area and is located on the road from Edmonton to the Rocky Mountains. The road is absolutely beautiful. Today, the town is known as the starting point for adventure activities in the heart of the country of David Thompson, a renowned explorer of the region. A lot of camping and hiking are among the must-do's in the area.
