Fifty-nine kilometres from Vanderhoof on Highway 27 and 160 kilometres northwest of Prince George, the Fort St. James Historic Site is located on the south shore of Stuart Lake, between the Nak'azdli First Nations Reserve and the Fort St. James business district. It was the first site settled by Europeans without being inhabited by First Nations people. Plan a full day to visit all of the restored wooden buildings as well as the original fur trade buildings. You can also go back in time to 1896 by staying in the Murray or employee residences.
