Aulac is a community in Westmorland County, located along the Trans-Canada Highway on the Chignecto Isthmus, just minutes from the Nova Scotia border. Aulac has a rich military history: it was a strategic point in the 18th century for the French army after the cession of what is now Nova Scotia to England in 1713 (Treaty of Utrecht). To learn more about this page of history, a visit to Fort Beauséjour - Fort Cumberland National Historic Site will be very interesting. It is possible to go directly to Prince Edward Island from Aulac by taking Highway 16.
