ELK FALLS PROVINCIAL PARK

Hotel €€

Elk Falls Provincial Park, located in Campbell River on Vancouver Island, is one of the island's most popular provincial parks. It boasts a thundering waterfall and some of the best year-round salmon fishing in Canada. There are many forest trails to discover the surrounding nature. Nearby is the Quinsam salmon farm, where you can watch salmon spawning in the Quinsam and Campbell rivers in autumn. This park is considered one of the best campsites in the "Salmon Capital of the World". It's ideally located just 2 kilometers from downtown Campbell River, offering peaceful riverside camping in an area renowned for its fishing. Fishing enthusiasts can find fish all year round, whether in the Quinsam River, the surrounding lakes, or the maritime waters for Chinook or Coho salmon. The park is also home to a 25-metre-high waterfall, accessible from the Elk Falls picnic area, just 3 kilometers from the campground. Hiking trails also lead to other parts of the park, which is home to the only significant old-growth Douglas-fir forest north of MacMillan Park. Elk Falls Park Campground is an ideal base camp for exploring the surrounding area, including Gold River, Sayward Forest, Kelsey Bay, Rock Bay and Quadra and Cortes Island Parks.
