This is our second favorite beach in the Hilo area (after Richardson Beach Park). Carlsmith Beach Park is a succession of natural pools with translucent waters. Swimming is easy and supervised, and you will surely cross the path of some turtles. Be careful not to touch them. On the other side of the road, the Lokowaka Ponds (marshes) also offer a beautiful view. Finally, this is the only beach on the coast where there is a restaurant, the Seaside Restaurant, to buy snacks.
