SCENIC LOOP DRIVE

One of the most beautiful roads in Texas is just outside of Fort Davis. It takes about an hour and a half to drive the 75-mile loop. From Fort Davis, take Highway 118. You will then climb along Limpia Canyon and pass the Locke and Fowlkes Mountains, home of the McDonald Observatory. On the other side, the road descends into Madera Canyon. Turn left on Highway 166 over Mount Livermore Pass before descending gently along the Sawtooth Mountains. You'll have a wide view of the Sierra Viejo Mountains.
