More than a restaurant, The Big Texan is one of the emblematic places of Route 66 (without being on its route) and an attraction in Amarillo. The restaurant room surprises first of all by its dimensions and the countless number of customers on two floors. A small stage allows to listen to some live music. Once at the table, daredevils can try their hand at the local contest, sit on a podium and swallow 72 oz (2.041 kg) of beef and its accompaniments in less than an hour! The bill is free for those who succeed.

Une institution
Célèbre pour son défi, si vous mangez un steak de 2kg il vous est offert, ce restaurant est une véritable institution qu'il ne faut pas manquer. Même si vous ne relevez pas le défi, allez-y, la viande y est excellente, le décors et l'ambiance sont à voir !! vous pouvez même demander qu'une limousine du resto vienne vous chercher à votre hôtel ..par contre il y a beaucoup d'attente pour le retour, mais c'est une expérience à vivre.

Restaurant réputé pour son célèbre défis 2 Kg de viande et accompagnement en moins de 1h et le repas est gratuit ! Certes sans faire ce défis, la viande est de très bonne qualité (normal on est au Texas), ambiance sympa déco et musique.

Endroit très animé, service rapide, viande excellente... Un petit bémol cependant : la climatisation mal réglée donc sensation de froid durant tout le repas.

Si vous passez à Amarillo sur la Route 66, il ne faut pas manquer cette institution. Selon l'hôtel où vous résiderez, vous pouvez demander à ce qu'une limousine vienne gratuitement vous chercher et vous ramener. Il y a beaucoup de monde, beaucoup d'attente mais une bonne ambiance.
