TEXAS STATE RAILROAD

To experience old-fashioned railroading with a steam engine at the ready, hop aboard a historic train that runs between the towns of Rusk and Palestine, about 40 miles from Nacogdoches. The round trip takes over four hours with an hour and a half lunch break in either town. There are several car options, from simple wooden benches (the cheapest) to cozy art deco-inspired sofas with a table, to the Presidential Car, a private viewing platform.
