An escape from the modern world that offers a glimpse into the life and habitat of Columbian mammoths and other animals.
Surrounded by oak, mesquite, and cedar trees, the site is an escape from the modern world and provides a glimpse into the lives and habitats of Columbian mammoths and other Ice Age animals. Between 1978 and 1990, sixteen Colombian mammoths were excavated, as well as a camel, an antelope, an alligator, a giant tortoise and the tooth of a big cat. This national monument was established by President Barack Obama in 2015, inserting the site into the National Parks.
