FORT SAM HOUSTON

The historic military fort at San Antonio is historic because it was built in the ^mid-19th century as a base for defense against the Indians and Mexicans. It is historic because the great Apache chief Geronimo was held here for 40 days. Historic because the first U.S. Army flight took place here in 1910. The Fort Sam Houston Museum presents the history of the military fort while the U.S. Army Medical Department Museum looks back at the health services of various international armies.
