With a population of about 10,000, this small town, the capital of the Sébé-Brikolo department, is built in an area of coffee cultivation and banana plantations. About 135 km north of Franceville, it is located in the valley of the Sébé, a tributary of the Ogooué. The surrounding area is known to host numerous manganese deposits, exploited since 2014 by the GMFA (Gabon Manganese & Ferro Allyos) company, the result of a collaboration between the Société Equatoriale des Mines in Gabon and the Dubai-based Navodaya Trading DMCC group. At the entrance of the city, coming from Akiéni, one can admire a bridge of lianas over the Sébé.
