PUNTA ESPINOSA

From punta Espinosa (the thorny point) the view of the volcano La Cumbre, which formed the whole island, is absolutely spectacular. This point is the only place on Fernandina Island where visits are allowed. Access is by sea, of course, and a narrow path winds through mangroves, lava flows and lagoons; it is the domain of finless cormorants, Galapagos penguins, sea lions and marine iguanas. It is one of the best places in the archipelago to encounter the widest range of endemic species.
