The Wall of Tears, located 6 km from Puerto Villamil, is a volcanic stone wall built by prisoners

The Wall of Tears is located 6 km from Puerto Villamil and a pleasant path, rich in history, leads to it from the centre. Between 1946 and 1959, there was a penal colony on the island. As a punishment, the prisoners had to build a wall of volcanic stones, 100 m long and 7 m high, which has become a tourist attraction on the island. By climbing a few steps, you will have a panoramic view of the Wall of Tears. Legend has it that when you listen to the Wall of Tears, you can hear the moans of the prisoners who built it.

La route est superbe et nous avons vu au moins 6 tortues. Belle vue depuis le mirador avant le mur. Nous l’avons fait à pied mais le retour est un peu long sous le soleil.

Nous avons loué des vélos sur la main street pour une durée de 2heures et sommes partis jusqu'à ce parc naturel. Nous avons fait un arrêt à chaque mirador et point de vue pour admirer paysages et faunes.
Nous avons pu découvrir les belles tortues terrestres des Galapagos. Avec un peu de chance vous en verrez sur le sentier, sinon roulez lentement et ouvrez l'oeil sur les alentours. Nous avons également vu des pélicans et des iguanes en grand nombre.
Nous avons fait une pause baignade et avons nagé avec des bébés requins à pointe blanche. C'était génial.

Le mur en lui-même n'est pas magnifique, mais la balade, idéalement à vélo (à pieds c'est un peu long...) qui y mène est très bien : il y a plusieurs points d'arrêt avec des plages et des miradors qui valent la peine! Et avec un peu de chance on croise de mignonnes tortues sur le chemin!
