EL FARO

Built in 2002, this lighthouse is the symbol of Guayaquil, a multifaceted city that claims to be both the light and guide of Ecuador. This beautiful lighthouse is 86 meters high and you can reach its terrace by climbing stairs. It is obviously a strategic point to observe the city. The first lighthouse of the city was built on Santa Clara Island (Isla del Muerto) in the 19th century. At that time, the river was the main access route to Guayaquil; the lighthouse was used to observe the comings and goings of ships.
