This restaurant, located next to the Posada del Angel, offers an excellent à la carte menu with Italian flavours. The hotel is mainly famous for its artisanal pasta and wine list (mainly Chilean and Argentinian). Excellent value for money.

Next to the cathedral, under the arcades of the gallery and facing the Calderon Park, this traditional restaurant is very popular, especially with tourists. The menu offers typical dishes and tasty almuerzos (locro de papas, fried meat or fish with filling/menestra, etc.). The breakfasts are very copious and very cheap. (5 US$) Beware, enjoying its location and reputation, the place can be a bit too touristy for some time and the prices are affected. Professional service otherwise.

A great option for an economical meal in the heart of Cuenca. This vegetarian restaurant offers almuerzos and an amazing choice of juices and batidos with evocative names: natural viagra, back to life... Also fruit cups and ice creams. The house motto is inspired by Hippocrates: "Let food be your medicine and medicine your food". The place isn't glamorous, but the dishes are well prepared and the ingredients very fresh and often organic. Three other addresses in the city center.

Casa Hortensia, new name since the pandemic of a restaurant that was almost an institution in Cuenca, La Quinta. It is still a very good address to taste typical dishes. If you want to taste a good seco de pollo or a ceviche, you will not be disappointed. For dessert, the cheesecake revisited with passion fruits is simply to fall. Casa Hortensia is already a sure value, it is moreover one of the addresses that the inhabitants of Cuenca willingly recommend. Nice setting and friendly staff.

Welcome to Fabiano's, opened since 2011 and highly recommended by locals, it is a great place to eat delicious Italian pizza at low prices and in a relaxed and family atmosphere. Fabiano has opened two other locations in Cuenca. One in the Zona Rosa and the other in the Challuabamba neighborhood, a residential area of the city. All three places have a good atmosphere and above all, produce very good pizzas and pasta dishes. If you prefer to dine at your hotel, ask for a delivery, it is fast and free.

National and international cuisine of simple invoices in a colonial setting. Rich and economical Almuerzos.

Served in a well-restored house, respectable Mexican cuisine prepared in the pure tradition by a Mexican team. Enchiladas, tacos and mole, tequila and margaritas at the bar. Warm wooded decor and local music. Not cheap though, but the portions are very hearty. Many musical evenings are scheduled, and announced on the restaurant's Facebook page. The choice of cocktails is impressive, the food is very good and the music is very eclectic, although often Mexican. A good address to try!

Unpretentious cuisine serving turkey specialties(pavón) in a clean setting. Very reasonable prices. Breakfasts are also copious: toast, eggs, ham or bacon, potatoes, hot drink and fruit juice, but also bolon de verde and mote. The almuerzo, consisting of a starter (often a soup), a main course, a dessert and a drink costs only 3 US$. One will come here to feel local among the locals, the restaurant is always full for lunch, so don't arrive too late or you will have to wait.

This nice Tex-mex restaurant is an economic alternative to the famous Pedregal Azteca. In addition to taco and burrito (not to miss the jerk sauce chicken sauce), tamales are prepared on weekends. Copious and delicious portions served in beautiful terracotta plates.

Lovers of Latino cuisine, this is your place. Traditional Colombian cuisine is served in this old-fashioned room. Arepas (kind of corn cakes), antojitos and empanadas are served here without fuss - and with coffee, of course! We recommend the guacamole tortilla! Be careful though, Colombian cuisine is not the lightest. Pleasant atmosphere and very professional service. This is the place to go on football match nights, especially if Colombia is on the pitch, the atmosphere is exceptional!

The room does not pay a mine and the decor is even very kitsch it must admit, but this Indian restaurant (not confusing Indian and Indigenous!) suggests all the classics: curry, samossa, biryani, naan, lassi… at unbeatable prices and very good quality. The young people of Cuenca appreciate it, and the clientele is also exclusively local.

This is a good gastronomic restaurant in an absolutely delightful location, on the banks of the river, with a breathtaking view. At the helm is a passionate Cuencano chef who will cook up his specialities, original and tasty, traditional dishes modernised in his own way: beef bourguignon with mushrooms, garlic shrimps, veal medallion with Bordeaux sauce... The modern and intimate decor promises a pleasant candlelit dinner. The service is very attentive. A little expensive, but the quality of the food and service are there.

This brand new café kept by a Syrian makes the young Ecuadorians (and sonorities) oriental taste. On the menu: shawarma, falafel, hummus, and chicha ($ 5). You can sit on the benches, in a beautiful room with ochre walls. In essence, art and test film screenings are organised on Sunday afternoon.

The hotel is located in the heart of the city. Ideal for breakfast.

All the Viennese specialties are on the menu: wiener schnitzel, Sachertorte, strudel, and even espresso as it is served there, on a small steel tray, with the spoon balanced on the cup! Run by an Austrian woman, this tea room looks like the ones in old Europe and you'll enjoy tea, hot chocolate (the best in town), pastries and light dishes for lunch (heartier in the evening). Everything is home-made. Large varnished wooden tables in an impeccable and warm setting, where you can read your newspaper peacefully.
