HACIENDA GUACHALA

This hacienda dates from the beginning of the Spanish colonization (1580 approximately). It is the oldest in Ecuador. Illustrious owners have succeeded one another and have marked the pages of national history. The property was dismantled during the successive agrarian reforms and only a few hectares remain (originally 12,000). The magnificent building, full of old-fashioned charm, was converted into a hotel in 1993. The 1987 earthquake damaged the buildings, which were rebuilt in the original style.
