Discover fifteen waterfalls in the heart of the subtropical forest

This route allows you to discover about fifteen waterfalls in the middle of the subtropical forest. To reach them, you have to cross in a tarabita, a kind of yellow metallic gondola sliding along a steel cable over a length of 600 m, above the trees. An experience not to be missed! Then the walk begins. Several routes are available. On the right, you take the direction of the Reina waterfall, the largest. It will take you 2 hours, round trip. On the left, you take the direction of a succession of several falls. The closest one (20 minutes round trip), the Nambillo waterfall is the most popular with Ecuadorians as you can swim there in a perfectly pleasant setting. A little further away (2 hours round trip), you will find a series of waterfalls of varying beauty and size (Ondinas, Guarumos, Colibries, Madre and Los Maderos). The pleasure of the hike will be increased tenfold by a good swim at the foot of the waterfalls (if the water is not too cold!). As of 2019, you can take a cable car to the start of Tarabita and save the taxi ride or the arduous walk up. From the top of this beautiful cable car, you'll have a spectacular view of the canopy and may be lucky enough to spot a family of monkeys out for a stroll or a flock of toucans looking for their meal. The cable car ride alone, which is actually a chair lift, is worth the detour.
