A bourgeois megalopolis with a colonial flavour, Quito often wakes up to capricious skies and warm, driving rain. And sometimes, the equatorial sun appears majestically above the peaks of the volcanoes, shining brightly all day long. Its clear nights allow us to contemplate the constellations of both the northern and southern hemispheres. It may be worth setting aside 2-3 days on arrival or departure to visit Quito and the surrounding area. Because there's already so much to see, but also because you'll probably need some time to adjust to the climate and altitude, and to recover from jet lag! A city full of contrasts, like the rest of the country, between a glorious past, cultural and social dynamism and poverty. A capital on a human scale, where life is good. No trip to Ecuador is complete without spending a few days in this city.
