Astronomical museum for simultaneous observation of the southern and northern hemispheres
The Quito observatory is one of the oldest in Latin America. It has the particularity of allowing the simultaneous observation of the southern hemisphere and the northern hemisphere. Located in the heart of the Alameda Park in a historic 19th century building, the Astronomical Museum was the brainchild of the German Jesuit and astronomer Juan Bautista Menten. The construction of the building itself was inspired by the observatory in Bonn, Germany.
