HÔTEL BACKPACKERS

Opened in the summer of 1997 on the other side of the bridge, Backpackers hotel, as its name suggests, is addressed to a customer travelling backpack with a modest budget. The dorms are rudimentary but quite clean and safe, the rooms are pleasant and overlook the lake, the atmosphere is convivial. Above all, the funds collected at the hotel are used to finance an NGO, Casa Guatemala, which has an orphanage not far from there and makes extraordinary work (see the website for the action of this NGO and volunteering www.casa-guatemala.org). Tourism here allows adolescents from the orphanage to work in the hotel and restaurant (open from 6 am to 22 pm).
