Huehuetenango is part of the fifteen cities that have a permanent market, but the main days, those where the villagers cross the mountains, are on Thursdays and Sundays. The Mercado central is located at the corner of 2 Laurier ave. and from 4 a calle, 200 m east of the Central Parque. It is a huge green building. As traders do not have a shop, the stalls go up to the adjacent streets. Another small market, the Mercado Plaza, at the corner of 4 a Calle and 4 a Av., takes place the same days and sometimes joins the precedent because of its proximity. Finally, the Mercado Terminal is located as its name indicates at Huehue bus station, away from the centre. It contains both fresh and consumer goods. It is open every day and grows on Thursdays and Sundays.
