Jesús Suarez Gayol (1936-1967), a native of the region, actively participated in the opposition movements against Batista from his youth. In 1955, he established the 26th of July Movement in Camagüey and joined the Castro guerrilla. After the victory in 1959, he was appointed vice-minister of Sugar, but followed Che in 1965, and was executed in Bolivia in 1967. Photos, documents and testimonies about the student struggles against Batista's dictatorship are exposed.
