PREAH NORODOM SIHANOUK-ANGKOR MUSEUM
Museum in Siem Reap housing Buddhas discovered at the Banteay Kdey temple by young Cambodian archaeologists
This museum owes its creation to Professor Ishisawa, head archaeologist of the Sophia-Tokyo University mission. In order to train young Cambodian archaeologists in new excavation techniques, the Japanese experts chose a seemingly uninteresting access route to the Banteay Kdey temple, where they discovered 275 Buddha statues. With the sponsorship of the Aeon Foundation, it was decided to build a museum worthy of the name. A fine initiative!
