PETER PAN BUS

Bus and coach
5/5
1 review

Peter Pan Bus is another popular bus company in the United States. The services offered are more or less similar to those of its famous competitor. The departures from stations are perhaps a little better organized, but the destinations served are less numerous. There are several daily departures to New York and many East Coast cities. Peter Pan buses leave from South Station Bus Terminal, but also from Copley Square, the airport, Park Square and State House, depending on the destination.

GREYHOUND

Bus and coach
5/5
1 review

Greyhound provides bus service to the major cities of New England and the United States. It is much cheaper than the train and almost as comfortable (there is Wifi and toilets in the buses). The n°1 option for those who travel in the United States, despite a not always optimal organization. Remember to book your tickets in advance: there are usually different bus lines, with numbers corresponding to the date of purchase. In any case, to make sure you have a good seat, arrive at the station early.

1 review

It's Boston's main train station. It welcomes trains (Amtrak) and buses (Greyhound and Peter Pan) that connect all the cities on the East Coast. It is from South Station that you will take the train to New York (about 4 hours), Philadelphia (about 5 hours), Baltimore (about 6 hours) and Washington (about 7 hours). There are express trains (Acela Express), and other slower trains (Regional Service, cheaper). The station is also served by the MBTA Rail Switch, which takes passengers to Plymouth, for example.

Unlike many other U.S. airports, Boston International Airport (the largest in New England) is not far from the city, to the east of it. It takes only 20 to 40 minutes by cab, bus (Logan Express) or subway(Blue Line and Silver Line) to get to downtown. You will find ATMs and a Travelex Foreign Exchange office to change your currency. However, the rates are not really competitive.

BOSTON CAB ASSOCIATION

Taxi and VTC

This is one of the cab companies in Boston. Its vehicles are recognizable by their colors, white and red. They are all equipped with meters, so you can't negotiate the fare. There are not as many taxis in Boston as in other major American cities. Here, unlike in New York for example, you will have a better chance of getting a taxi by contacting the agency by phone or by reserving your ride on the website, especially if you are not in the center. It's simple, fast and reliable.

GO AIRPORT SHUTTLE

Airport shuttle

Shuttle buses are generally a cheaper option than conventional taxis. However, in Boston, because the distance between the airport and downtown is relatively short, the ride is not always advantageous - for example, if you take a shuttle during rush hour, you'll pay the same price as a regular taxi, for a longer travel time. It all depends on your situation: if you're travelling in a group, a taxi is often the best option, but if you're going to the city centre, the shuttle buses are a little cheaper.
