This large bronze statue installed behind the National Academy of Sciences building pays tribute to the most famous physicist. The latter is represented sitting on a flight of steps, holding in his hand handwritten sheets on which were engraved the formulas of his three most important achievements: the general relativity, the photoelectric effect and, of course, E=mC2, which expresses the equivalence between mass and energy. The sculpture was unveiled in 1979, to celebrate the centenary of Einstein's birth.
