This was murdered by US President Abraham Lincoln on 14 April 1865. Following a large renovation, the theatre is now used as a concert hall and as a historic monument commemorating the assassination, including the exposure of some objects that belonged to the family. Peterson House, the neighbouring house in which Lincoln was transported and died, is also open to visits.
