LOWER GEYSER BASIN

This vast geothermal activity area can be browsed on foot along the Fountain Paint Pot trail and by car along the Firehole Lake Drive.

The Twin Buttes dominate the Lower Geyser Basin, which covers an area of over 30 km ² and has some 700 hot springs. The Fountain Paint Pot is a shimmering cauldron in yellow and red tones, where a footpath leads to the Morning Geyser, the Fountain Geyser and the Spasm Geyser.
